Hawk
Introduction
One of the very few leftovers from modelling in my youth
which ended in the late 1960's is the empty box of the Hawk
Douglas SBD-5 Dauntless depicted in picture 1, right. The
box is copyrighted 1965, so this kit certainly belonged to
my third and last phase of modelling. It was the sole kit I
had from this brand. Some more reflections about this kit
are to be found here.
As with all other brands I remember to have had in
my youth I quickly added new and unknown kits from
Hawk to my
collection. Whereas I "bought back" a complete Dauntless only in
2015.
I bought for the boxart but
for the type as well (see pictures 2 and 3, right). As well very
early I came upon the wooden solid kits from Hawk and bought
some out of curiosity. They belong to the history of Hawk and
plastic kits in geneal and therefore I need to have some for
documentation. though I did not and will not add more to
my collection (Picture 4).
History
