Hawk Douglas SBD-5  Dauntless

As told in the introduction to the Hawk brand the empty box of the Douglas SBD-5  Dauntless was one of the very few leftovers from my 1960's modelling.

The box is copyrighted 1965, so this kit certainly belonged to my third and last phase of modelling. It was the sole kit I had from this brand. But it was quite present  when I started recollecting my memory of my modelling history in 2003. I liked the shape of the Dauntless and this brand was somehow exotic in the late sixties among my bred and butter 1:72 kits from Revell, Airfix and Frog.

Funnily enough  I "bought back" a complete Dauntless only in 2015  to have the parts, too, in my collection.

When I bought the copy of the Dauntless(picture 2, right) and unpacked the sealed kit I was surprised to discover that it was blue. As this kit was packed in a later style soft box I assumed that theese issues of the Dauntless were blue against the earlier issue. But watching offers in auctions and visiting various websites I did not came across any copy of the Hawk Dauntless made of silver plastic. Should my memory have failed this time ?
