Airfix Hawker Typhoon

The Airfix Typhoon was one of my earlier kits. Regarding its year of first release, 1959,  it may well fit at the beginning of the second phase of modellig in my youth.

It must have had the Type 2 header style as shown in picture 1, right. Intoduction of the Type 2 packaging style coincides with the release of the Typhoon. So obviuosly there did not exist an issue with a Type 1 header card. (see Packaging Styles in Airfix Collecting Website).

When I started to reappraise the memories of my modelling history the "strange circular hole" in the recessed panel which should be the grill of the radiator came immedtiately to my mind (picture 3, below). In my early modelling days I did not understand that in reality the  oil cooler and air intake are inset concentrically into the radiator like seen in picture 4, below right.
